Need help with a repair, estimate, or claim?
Scratch repair pricing is a fair question and the honest answer is: it depends on the scratch.
Three things drive the cost: how deep the scratch goes, how long the affected area is, and whether the body underneath needs work before paint can go on. Here is the rough shape of it.
Buffing only
If you cannot feel the scratch with your fingernail, the damage is likely confined to the clear coat. A professional cut and polish can erase it. This is the cheapest fix and the result is usually invisible. Expect a session ranging from a quick service call to a couple of hours of shop time.
Touch-up on a single small area
Once the scratch goes through clear coat into the color layer, buffing is no longer enough. A spot repair requires sanding, color-matched paint, and a clear top coat over the affected zone. The cost step up depends on the panel and how visible the spot is.
Full panel refinishing
Longer scratches, multiple scratches in one panel, or any scratch in a high-visibility area (hood, door, fender) usually warrants refinishing the entire panel. This is the most consistent way to get an invisible repair because the new paint blends panel-edge to panel-edge instead of mid-surface. Pricing scales with panel size and complexity.
When insurance comes in
If the scratch is from a parking-lot incident with a known third party, comprehensive or property-damage coverage usually applies. We handle the paperwork with every major carrier so you do not have to. If it is a smaller cosmetic issue and the cost is below your deductible, paying out of pocket is often the smarter call.
How we approach an estimate
Send a few clear photos in daylight or stop by the shop. We give you a real number, an honest opinion on whether to fix it now or wait, and a timeline that respects your schedule.
Full Tilt has been voted Best in the Valley in Body Work and Auto Painting since 2013. Color matching uses a computerized system that reads your actual paint, not just the factory code, so aged finishes blend without a halo.
